Hi, I use a really good, soft mitt on my car when I wash it. The issue is, some type of small, brown berry/nut, has fallen on the car and "stained" it. I just had the car painted three years ago. My question is, does anyone know what other thing I could use to "scrub" this stuff off? I have tried and tried washing it with my mitt & soap and it stays on. I don't want to use a brush, because I'm afriad it'll scratch the paint.
Aother issue: My windshield wipers will NOT work now, because the wipers are too "high" for the hood and they won't work, when I turn them on. They get stuck under the top portioin of the hood. They do work, just fine. But I can't use them. Please let me know what I can do to fix this issue.
Thank you. But, it appears it's the base part that is too high. I'd have to replace that. I guess I could look for a low profile base? Do you know what that is called? I'm thinking a base, but I'm not sure.
good advice on paint.. use the most gentle abrasive (compound, polish) to start until removed.
Love the black.
as far as wipers LOL.. i had same issue and didn't know it. wondered why worked when hood unlatched...
here is my solution below.. do not bend you arms.. and i tried many wipers! https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ting-hood.html
Thank you so much!! As it turned out, my hood was "too" closed on the side that the wiper was having an issue with. So now, the wipes are no longer stuck.
Before you result to any harsh compounds, you could try a safer product. Clay Bar.
Meguiars or Mothers both make a kit, Walmart < $20.
It specifically removes containments in paint. You won't believe the stuff the clay pulls out of the paint.
Actually, you should do the whole car once a year. Wonderful stuff. I have never used car wax again since this product came out.
Clay bars are abrasive....
I think before I would resort to any abrasive (especially on black paint), I would try milder solvents.
First, I would just try Dawn and sone paper towels...Just get the towel wet with soapy water and let is sit on top of the stain for a while to let it soak in...
If that didn't work. I would probably try a Tar & Bug remover...
Hopefully, your stain is only in the wax and not into your paint...
I've been using nothing but Griots Speed Shine & their yellow clay bars on my factory lacquer for the last 20+ years...
Abrasive is abrasive. Period.
I have painted more cars than I can count....Mostly Corvettes using PPG acrylic lacquer...
I have nothing against using clay or even a polish... I just don't start there if I have a stain in the wax layer...
