Default Coolant Leak Help

Here are pics from a small puddle of coolant near the engine lift bracket on my 76'. The car was on jack stands for 11 months while i rebuilt the front end to include new radiator, water pump, and upper and lower radiator hoses. After driving it and getting it to running temp, I get this small puddle between the lift bracket and the valve cover. In the attached pics, I dried out the puddle, and had this small amount of coolant the next day. I have no obviouse leaks from anywhere else.

Any ideas on where the leak is coming from? Seepage from the manifold?

If you removed / replaced the intake manifold, did you use thread sealant on the manifold bolts?

I did not remove the intake manifold. I only removed the thermostat housing for the new one and I removed the engine lift bracket to repaint it. The lift bracket is on pretty tight as I could not find any torque specs for it.

I guess you could remove bracket again, and reinstall bolts with washers, to get a better view of the leak. If that’s all you moved in that area, that’s where to look. Like Eli said, might need sealant on bolts, so they are coming out anyway. Can you borrow a cooling system pressure tester to look for the leak so you don’t have to run it?

Will give it a go. By sealant, you mean teflon tape? Or thread locker?

Do you think if I overtightened it, that it squeezed the old gasket? It seems like it may be seeping out between manifold and top of block.

Most of Intake Bolts go into the lifter valley. When those bolts are not sealed, they leak oil.

My money is on your Waterneck not sealed.

That rear bolt on the engine hook can go into coolant......look for witness marks of a coolant trail from the thermostat housing.......if there are none, take that bolt out and seal with PTFE pipe sealer......
The others as stated go into oil near the pushrods....it is not a blind hole so those need to be sealed as well......
