Side pipes and CCC
Hey guy I have a 1981 corvette with a four speed and the route i wanna go is sidepipes here. I have two questions is there a way to keep the computer happy while running sidepipes? Because I’ll have to remove cats so is there a sidepipes with bungs for o2 or is that just not possible and I have to do the full CCC delete if I want pipes so distributeor and carb. Also when I do the CCC delete I’m gonna get a CEL correct? Is there any way to solve that?

I am in the middle for doing side pipes and EFI on my 81. I also looked into using the CCC with side pipes and it is possible, but you will need to use a different heated O2 sensor.

But I have not verified this will work. This is second hand info from another post on the forum which I have lost, though the O2 replacement remained on my Amazon wish list. The CCC is tuned to a particular O2 and I think this one matches it but adds the heater which is important because the side pipe collector is too far from the engine and too cold for unheated O2s.
Also you will have to get an O2 bung welded into the side pipe header collector. I chose stainless for my side pipes because I could weld in O2 bungs without sacrificing the integrity of a coating. Though you can get the mild steel headers and weld in a bung, I would just coat them after to stop them rusting.
Good luck, worst comes to worst just get rid of the CCC and keep the sweet side pipes.
