On my '81......While driving home last night my low beam headlights when out (talk about a pucker factor), however the high beams worked fine. This morning I went out and and low and high beams worked fine. Don't tell me it's the headlight switch .....ugh.

Not exactly feeling positive about this reply, but here goes anyway: The headlight circuit is protected by a thermal circuit breaker that will reset by itself. The breaker is located inside the switch. I don't know about the high beams working while the lows did not, but the fact that the lows worked the next morning seems to indicate the breaker tripped and reset itself.

If the breaker tripped the high beams wouldn't work either.
