Where should I connect the electric choke? Can I run a lead to the "+" terminal on the coil? Or should it go somewhere else?
Bubba wired it directly to the accessory position, so it's hot, literally, whenever the car is on AND in ACC! Guess how I found this out? OUCH!

Look at fuse box IGN post. Do not connect to coil.
Thanks for the reply! I would connect it to the wiper motor, but that's another gremlin I have to track down and get working. I may just connect it temporarily to the IGN post on the fuse panel until I can get the wipers working. Maybe this will spur me to work on that as well.

The way we did it on my brothers 68 is we basically came off the coil hot (not directly, it fed a relay). Additionally we had an oil pressure switch wired into the oil system so that the coil didn’t get voltage when the engine was off but key on. Similar to the booster pump wiring on later carbed motorhomes etc. If you read the instructions on the carb it will likely inform you that there is a leak port around the coil and having the coil energized without a vacuum being pulled could burn out the choke coil.
It is on only in run position unlike the wipers which are on in assy.
I get that but in some cases like mine, having on with ACC works out. In the warm months my engine does not need much choke to start so I turn the key on for 30-45 seconds and then start it, that way it does not jump to 15-1800 rpms cold because the choke is already off the first step. Cold weather I just start it... Just a thought..
And if you are like me, and don't like to see wires crawling all over your engine, then put the wire inside a piece of rubber hose like the one used for ignition vacuum, hides it nicely.
After reading 1860army's post, checking different places with a multimeter for where to wire the choke and checking a wiring schematic, it turns out the wiper motor is on the ACC terminal as well.

Oil pressure switch. One wire to the elec choke and the other to, in this case, tapped into the wiper motor wire. Current only active when there is oil pressure so working in the engine compartment with the key on acc does not activate the current.
If you have delay wipers, you can't tap into the wiper motor without affecting the delay function. I tapped into the IGN ON slot on the fuse block. Works great.
