I am looking at a C3 hard top and in the pictures it seems to be missing a triangular shaped clip with a hole in it that is held on with two screws and is located on the interior just below the glass in the center. I can’t seem to locate this part online and can’t determine it’s function. Does anyone know the purpose of this clip? Thank you.
If your car doesn't have the mounting points (holes) drilled into the convertible decklid, you won't need that bracket, unless you want to add it. Adding the center bracket requires that you correctly locate, then drill the correct size hole into the center of the decklid to accept a ferrule that goes there.. You'll also have to drill two mounting holes, L & R, at the outer edges of the decklid to accept the hardtop's mounting brackets and hardware. This drilling can cause great anxiety. Ask me how I know. I did all the work correctly, but I did work from a 1969 Production Manual. It will show you all of the GM hardware that is needed, and the size of the holes to drill. Adding a hardtop to the C3 adds rigidity to the ride. My vinyl covered hardtop also adds a nice look to the car IMHO.
