valve body is the key, even though kits are available, I have the impression
gran national ones are drill different and have different dia valve bores?
The main differences are the valve body separator plate hole sizes and calibration of the valve body itself, in late 1987 they changed the 3-4 accumulator housing design . they do have 5 different wiring schematics depending on valve body pressure switches , if it has 3rd gear pressure and 4th gear pressure switch ,or 3-4 pressure switch only , 3-4 pressure switched with 4th pressure switch and last the 4th gear switch only .... some valvebody's can have Lockup in 3rd gear and 4th gear , some just 4th gear ... the govenor has different tooth count for rpm shift points , more teeth for higher rpm , less teeth for lower rpm shift points , Trans-Go and Sonnax have valve body calibration kits for the 200R4
I got a used one from a wrecked Buick GN back in 1998 with 50,000 miles and installed it in a 1978 Trans Am.. It worked flawlessly. I don't think I will get that lucky this time.
