hey guys, i have a 1980 corvette with a broken hood release cable, as far as i can tell the cable isnt broken from the release to the firewall, so it must be broken/disattached from the firewall to the latches. does anyone know any tips or tricks or ANYTHING to help me open up the hood. ,, i know for the C4s ecklers sells a tool just for this,, but what about the c3's any helps is appreciated. thanks..
On my 72 which has the cable linking the 2 latch points on the hood, I used a bent hanger (small hook on end) and I snaked it in and hooked it on the cable. I then gave it a good yank and it popped open. Not sure if yours is the same.
Mine did this as well. Goinbroke has the answer for you (I never stop learnin' here, I pried mine open after much cussing - never knew about the access ports.)
After finally getting mine open and repaired, I hung a small wire from each side and let it hang there. Maybe I can take them off now that I know about the port.
