If it measures 18 1/4 inches in diameter it should fit the '68. I think the standard fan for '68 was originally a 5 blade. Replacement fans listed as fitting "All 1968 to 1982" but they are a 6 blade. The extra blade on yours will only help.

The water pump hub pilot nub may not match the fan clutch hole. The pilot diameter changed, I believe, in '72 — the earlier hub pilot was 5/8" while the later was 3/4".

This is correct. Many aftermarket pumps used to come with a bushing to fit over the hub pilot to take up the slack. Don't know if they still do, but you should be able to locate one without too much problem, pretty sure Summit offers them for a few bucks.

OP, measure that diameter carefully. My car when I got it had what looked like a regular Corvette fan, but turns out it was 19” diameter. (I think I determined it was from an Olds 442 or something). Anyway, it actually contacted and cut the lower rad hose, since my shroud extension was missing. I trimmed the blades down. It was easy, they are aluminum, and I was careful to remove the exact same amount from each blade so as not to upset the balance. Been working fine for thousands of miles.
