I don't think it is a restamp! The background machining of the pad looks untouched which leads me to think the VIN sequence is stamped on top of the engine plant stamp. Both stamps have that GM sort of factory look. I think the smaller stamp is: C7Z157011 but I couldn't locate anything with that sequence but it seems to follow GM VIN patterns.

Interesting. “Restamp” is defined as “stamping again” so it is a restamp but I think your point is we in the forum think of “restamp” in terms of removing all traces of the original stamping (e.g. decking the block) and nefariously applying a different stamp. In your idea, we have a situation where the engine factory applies their stamp and the FAL applies the abbreviated VIN sequence over the top vs adjacent to, as is in our case. Kinda stupid, IMO, but if done at a truck factory, well….
The Corporate Blue paint could be from a rebuild, but when did GM start using the square-ish engine stamp pads, vs. the earlier, wide pads? Nasty Z28 only has one entry for TXA (1975),. but the Lime Book online has a few more. Perhaps 77 is more reasonable?
I agree, that is not a restamp. It is a factory overstamp, from the Monday Morning Crew (TM)

I swear on a stack of religious books, I witnessed the whole thing: Jimbo was pissed that day because Steve was riding his back all morning about the way his stamps were crooked and not as good as Steve himself did when he was at that station. Jimbo showed him what a perfectly aligned stamping looks like.

LOL
Good thing Steve wasn’t present when Jimbo picked up the stamp gang - Steve-o would have an interesting pattern on his forehead!
