What you really need is three t-3's like I have at work. That's about 10 Meg per second. DSL & cable modem are about the same as a t-1 during off peak use.
We have a T3 here at LSU. I hate it when I go home to dial up, but I cannot justify the installation of a cable modem in rental property. Especially since I graduate in May.
i agree aaron, had cable for 2 years now will never go back to dial up,only thing that sucks is my cable bill is 105.00 a month.Wife needs digital cable also.
A T1 is 1.54mbps, but it has a lot of throughput, making it a good choice for applications needed a lot of bandwidth. It may not be all that fast, but a lot of people can use it, and it is cost effective due to it's slow speed. I can go on and on about this networking crap... I'll have my CCNA in early summer.
I have a T1 in my home but I run a internet business :) Getting ready to move up to a T3.. Prices have come way down though.. 4 years ago it was pretty expensive!

Re: T1 internet Excess (zZArAZz)
I have T1 at work and it is fast. You can run a speed test on it, and it usually runs around 1.8-2.0mbps. When I get home and get on my cable, it always seems faster at most places I go to. My home connection lately has been running 1.0-1.1mbps.
