Ignition switch alignment??

Ignition switch alignment??
So I finally got my ‘80 to start last weekend with a brand new battery but now won’t start unless hotwired.
today I tried to start after messing with the trans for a bit (shifter is out of alignment, car starts in gear), however I have a jumper wire through the NSS so I don’t know how the trans would affect starting considering it worked fine a couple days ago.
I’m able to Hotwire by using a push button directly to the starter and turning key simultaneously and the key actually works to turn OFF the car as well.
so I’m pretty lost on why it wouldn’t start with the key anymore??
*brand new battery
*took out and reinstalled starter with clean terminals
*purple wire terminal on the starter seems loose but the nut is torqued so could be the bolt itself that’s loose?
*battery cables haven’t been changed and there is corrosion on the insulation but doesn’t seem to have any corrosion on the terminals.
