Ive come across someone who has a set of sidepipes for my car( :hurray: ) They're old Hookers that have never been mounted (lol, I just re-read that sentence). Since they are'nt made anymore I dont know how much to offer. How much do they cost for your guys' cars?
Oh, and another question (since my other one got so much attention:rolleyes: ;) ) Who makes those "good" sidepipe mufflers that everyone likes so much?
I got mine off ebay headers, side tubes, mufflers, hard ware, for $339.00
the chrome was in bad shape, so I sanded them down alot of work!!! and when done had them jet coated for $400.00 a little more than wanted but the look and sound great
Yes Hooker still makes Super comp Side pipe headers.
I priced them out today.
But let's get a couple something straight, even if it is obvious.
The C2 guys will pay big bucks for real original side pipes.
The last year side pipes were offered as a factory option was '69.
So if you have a '78 you needen't worry about "original" sidepipes.
PAW has the best price I have seen, much less then Summit.

$519 for BBC and I think it was $469 or $489 for SBC for the super comp side pipe header in black finish.
I have a yellow shark so I can run those.
$200 for the actual side pipe, 4" same for BBC or SBC, and about $149 for either glass pac, or reverse flow muffler inserts
It's about 50% more for chrome
I made my one side pipes out of stainless steel and fitted JCL baffles inside. Cost was very reasonable. :yesnod: :steering:
:iagree: - or another homemade alternative w/ fiberglass covers.
$250 for covers new - $100 for header mufflers - and misc tubing should
come well under $500.
:seeya
They still make them (Hooker Headers and sidepiper) for C3's, dont they?
Sure do, the problem is that's not what I own (see sig). That's why I was wanting to know what they went for, for 'vettes because Hooker has'nt made them for Pontiac for about 3 years. As far as making my own, I want true sidepipe headers not just the kind where its just the exhaust running on down the side.

So, how much they sell the chrome one for? The complete system, headers, sidepipes and gasket install kit.

BlkBird: sorry I infringed on your question. Perhaps knowing new alternative prices will give you an idea of value, hence price to pay for the ones you found

$519+200? does that include everything?
I think i prefer the look of black vs chrome, especially on a stock car like mine. how does the finish hold up over time?
hooker also does SBC sidemount headers for the 78-81 firebird with 265-400 cid (Chevy?) motors in black for $459 and chrome$779 PAW
I don't know if the ehaust port placement on the Poncho head though but I'm not optimistic.
I want side mount headers for my '84 Camaro 400 chevy small block but haven't seen them yet.

Yeah, Ive seen those. The thing is I call F-bodies with SBC's Camaro's lol. Ive contacted Hooker a couple of times about this. Apparently they made them up to about 3 years ago, then quit due to lack of demand. My only hope is to find some used, but Im not optimistic. Even if I do find them, Im afraid of what condition they'd be in. You would think(or atleast, I would) that if they made them at one point in time it would be relatively easy to make me up a set. Im sure they still have the blue prints and Im sure everything is just entered into a computer and machines bend the pipes. Its not like I would'nt pay for them. Anyone want to break into Hooker and swipe some plans for me? :reddevil  I will keep an eye out for Third Gen. pipes while Im header hunting. Seems like I've seen them somewhere. I know Ive seen atleast one car with them. I just dont know if they were real or those fake universal ones they have.
You or I could easily go to a race shop and have a set of custom side exit header built, and run the pipe off that, but that is about a grand for the header alone from a shop.
but they could just cut the old primarys out and not need to pull the motor to get the old long tubes out and new ones built in.
