My Power steering control valve is leaking. I have looked at a bunch of car part websites and prices vary from $150 - $350.
None of these sites tells you where these are made and by whom!
A common one is Cardone which is remanufactured.
Where can I get a good quality valve at a reasonable price?
Thanks in advance.
I can't tell you what to buy or from whom but if I needed a CV I would not be buying a marketed rebuilt one. The new ones "were" better but today I can't say if that is true or not. "If you know, you know" - just a pet peeve of mine.
I'd been using and selling the rebuilt power steering control valves coming from one of the best known and most respected rebuilders of Corvette parts, but I stopped carrying their PSCV's 3 or 4 years ago. It had gotten to the point where I would get 4 rebuilts in and at least one would be bad right out of the box. Leaking ones was the most common problem, but I also got some that wouldn't center. I'm now only stocking the new reproduction ones coming from Top Flight, and other Corvette businesses I know have switched to the new ones too, and for the same reason. I assume they're being made overseas, but so far I've only had one bad one since I switched (it wouldn't center once installed) and Top Flight quickly replaced it, no questions asked.
How long these repro's will last I don't know, but so far I've been happy with them.
I was suggested to purchase my "Power Control Valve" from a corvette shop with Full Throttle Corvette. Part number is 1509003 and cost me $199.99 - when I received it the quality looked excellent. It has been installed for over 1 year now, 5000 miles later, and no leaks. Just make sure you have a mechanic install it that knows what they are doing - you want to make sure they are knowledgeable when it comes too installing a power control valve.

I also heard Top Flight Corvette sells a very good quality Power Control Valve too that was mentioned early in thread.
This is a real crap shoot!
I don't know what to order.
Usually valves like this are honed and rebuilding with new parts o-rings etc, may not fix the problem.
I wish I could buy a US made GM part!!!!
FWIW, what I’ve learned over the years is that a lot of such leaks are caused by applying too much grease at the valve’s grease zerk fitting. This will destroy the valve’s seals.
As it is, these valves are packed with ample grease and rarely need greasing.

The kits only 25 bucks to try and rebuild it yourself. Seems like it would be worth trying rather than buying a new one. Took me maybe two hours, and now it's not leaking.
A different option. Mine started to leak after I greased it and tracked the car.
My first rule was no Chinese components. That didn’t work. Everything is Chinese these days. I then considered LoneStar. They claim to be strictly USA parts and assembled in the USA. Someone more knowledgeable than me warned against them. Quality being the main issue.
The reasons were that although they admitted to using Chinese parts, casting was new, not a rebuilt unit. Also the parts were assembled in the USA. Then after assembly they are hydraulically tested, and the ball joints are lubricated. I believe they come with a Lifetime guarantee (warranty?)
I'm surprised no one is advocating to rebuild the original. Seems this was discussed in the past.
It was the very first project I took on with my car before even the engine was replaced.. My uncle is on his 3rd "rebuilt" unit he bought ... I think 3 times was the charm for him. also 2 sets of replacement hoses.
Im installing a borgeson in my car which I bought new as a kit on ebay last summer cheap.
If I could jump on this and ask a related question? Can the valve be removed without pulling the cylinder and rod on the end? I have already replaced those parts and would prefer not to start all over.
