Default SS Exhaust Question

I am installing a 454 HO crate engine in my 1970 BB car. Something I can run on available pump gas. The exhaust system on the car was original (40K miles) and I am looking to install a true 2.5 inch pipe and muffler system. Will be using the stock iron manifolds.

Pypes Performance exhaust seems to fit my specifications as far as pipe and muffler diameter are concerned. Anyone have experience with this system? Am concerned about sound/drone at cruising MPH. Car as a 3;36 final drive. I do like the crossover pipe in the design.
Any other systems you have experience with? Magna Flow? etc.
The factory pipes have way too many flats and pinch points along with mufflers that have 2.5" inlet but 2" outlets. Those issues really hurt a BB's performance.
I also noticed that Summit lists factory looking square outlet tips for a 2.5" muffler. That's a plus.
Appreciate any experience you may have along this lines.

Bob

As long as your not using one of these Smart Strut brackets there should be no issue.

As they all run staight under the rearend the exhaust would make contact. Only the Corvette Central exhaust turns to clear everything.
Unless one of the kits fimally made some changed.

To help my 427 big block from my 1968 C3 I simply put on a set of Hedman Headers with a set of Allen's Stainless Exhaust's "Chambered Exhaust System". They are big pipes and flow really well, the individual headers pipes are 2-1/8" each The headers and exhaust system weigh less than the standard exhaust does. Chambered Pipes are harder to find today but they can sound awesome, it is similar to the sound of Side pipes but the noise is out back of the car. I can listen to my radio if I wanted to. But the best part is it gets rid of the mufflers and the associated weight. The Hedman headers fit perfectly and both systems are over two decades old.

I also have a Chambered Cat-Back Chambered Pipe system on my 1988 C4. Both of the Chambered Exhaust systems were purchased and installed in the early 1990's and both were made of "Aluminized Steel" and are both fully usable as neither has any corrosion or problems. I personally would not waste the money on Stainless Steel for an exhaust system as I had a full Stainless System actually corrode and fail when the car had 31,000 miles or so on it.

The Chambered Exhaust Cat back I put on our 1988 C4 was really nice but it came with the LT1 style outlets on it which I wish were not there. The C4 has a limited engine but sounds great though the exhaust system.
