I’m getting ready to install my fuel tank on my 69 and I have some questions. I’ve got the anti squeak strips that go under the tank but I’ve noticed some advertised that appear to go under the tank straps. When I removed the old tank, the only strips were under the tank. None under the straps. Can anyone shed any light on this? I want to ensure I do it right when I install the new tank.
I've heard various versions as well. There were definitely pads on the two cross member parts that support the tank. At least on person with a 68 says they had then on their straps but there's nothing listed in the AIM.
The strap is called a strap assy in the AIM which would lead you to believe it was more than just the strip of metal
Alan71 stated at one point that there are none under the straps (I put them on my 72 just to keep from marking up the tank putting the straps on)
Others said they were glued to the tank https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...nk-straps.html
My tank straps had what looked like tar paper between them and the tank.
Appears a kit is sold and looks to have both the tank and straps anti-squeak strips:
Recently had the tank out of a 76. No tar paper on the straps. Had my tank out on my 77 a few years ago. No tar paper on the straps. Perhaps some years have them, some don't?

If it helps with what to do, my 69 had the tar-paper-like straps, top and bottom. Don't know why the difference. No pictures though, simply what I remember.
