One Hot vette need help....
To deal with the engine temps you want to make sure that the radiator to rad support seals are in place as is the hood to support seal. This forces all incoming air thru the radiator. You need to make sure the radiator and fan clutch are in good working order and that the air dam is present under the frontend. Thats the short checklist for the engine temps, also verify your gauge reading as accurate.
For the cockpit make sure there are no holes in the firewall. You can go to a home supply store and get the pieces you need to put ball valves into both heater hoses. This will prevent any hot water in to the heater core. Then under the carpet insulation available from same home supply store. Other things to do is verify the heater doors are closing and sealed to prevent cowl air into cockpit. Another thing is there is a foam seal around the bellhousing to keep heat out of the transmision tunnel.
If your like me you'll just repair them one at a time till your comfort level is reached. For me that meant fixing the A/C, hey I'm from Minnesota anything above 70 is warm my comfort level is in the low 60's. But then I'm weird because 30 is comfortable in long sleeves :D .
Good Luck
Scott
