Default Frame up resto e-bay?

Here is an e-bay L88 frame up resto and the guy doesnt even know the right color (Phantom? green) I thought it was Fathom correct me if I'm wrong. I wonder if L88 was a typo for L48. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6168

Sounds to me like an L89 with L88 gear.

He said it was just a l89 with a l88 intake on it and l88 hood.I personally cant stand when someone tries to make a car something that it is not.I would be more interested if it still had the tri power on it. :seeya

:iagree:

He'd probably do much better if "HE" sold all the L-88 stuff, and put the car back into "correct" L-89 trim. :yesnod:

Default L-71/L-89/L-88 with M-40

If it is the real deal, it's a pretty rare beast as Chevrolet built very few Corvettes with a solid lifter big block and the automatic transmission. The number that I've heard thrown around is 255, but I have only seen one piece of documentation to support this (and it was by no means conclusive). It apparently still has the heavy duty "CY" transmission which had a special welded torque converter with six attachment bolts and higher shift points (6200-6400 rpm) to better match the higher rev limit of the L-71/L-89/L-88 engines.

A couple of things that caught my eye...

The car is early... Really early. I don't have my survey handy, but I don't recall many built prior to the strike in 1969. That's not to say that none were built this early though... Just something to file away for future reference.

I'd also like to know what the differential code is. That might prove helpful as well.

Paul,

Probably a good idea to replace the stock induction and hood cosidering the price of the car and who the buyer is attempting to market it to.

Interesting car though... I'd love to get a closer look at it.

Regards,
