Default 4spd tran mount swap

So I got my 69 stripped down as far as I am going. Harmonic balancer and forward are out including radiator. Driveshaft back is out. My exhaust hanger needs changed and I wanna get the tranny mount and bracket out to clean up etc. can I just use my HF motorcycle jack to put upward pressure on the tranny and loosen bolts back and forth...or will that put too much torque on the engine mounts? Maybe loosen up engine mounts a bit first?

Yes you can. If your motor mounts are ok you won't harm them. It would be a good time to eyeball them anyway.

Thank u. I figured I could but wanted to be sure instead of finding out I was wrong the hard way. I thing the engine mounts are ok...car has Sat for 20 years and I believe mounts were changed just before slumber. Am thinking once I got tranny mount done I could do the same with the engine? For purposes of removing and refinishing engine mount brackets. Might this be ok too?.

What bracket?

Your mount should be similar to this: https://www.corvettecentral.com/c3-6...6catalogs%3dc3

I went from talking Abt tranny to talking bout engine mount. One side of engine mount attached to engine and I thought the other side attached to a removable bracket but that is not the case.

ON the motor mount there is horizontal bolt that goes through the bracket that hold the motor mount onto the frame.
The Motor Mount then bolts onto the engine.

see here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1594171667

You should have no need to mess with the motor mounts if you are just lifting tranny and inch or so. Here is a motor mount. Notice that it has 3 bolt holes for bolting onto the engine:

Dang..for 15 bux I might as well replace them. Current ones have a couple thou miles and 25 years on em. Guessing that rubber don't harden much. And I wish my engine looked that clean. I just gotta lift the tranny enuf to get out everything between tranny and frame.

Check your local parts store. Nothing special about them but you might wanna get the locking type anyway.

Once you unbolt the rear trans mount you only need to lift the tailshaft 1/2 inch or so to pull out the old mount and exhaust bracket. Super easy.

Will that allow me to get the whole mount bracket off too?
