Has anybody ever replaced their own softtop and what difficulties did you run into, if any? I bought a new top (second hand) and it came with no instructions.
I've done several. Right now, I'm helping a friend put a top on his 67. My best advice?? Buy the video. It's essential. Without seeing how it's done, I think it would be impossible to try to "visualize" the process by reading about it. :) Hope this helps. Chuck
Chuck, Are your old threads with pics still around somewhere? You did such a nice job documenting your project it could be almost as useful as the video for somebody planning a top replacement! :) MJ
Don't have the pix anymore, Mark. Sent them to someone for a website, but I don't remember where :) Anyhow, we're done with the 67 top, but guess what? We have a VCR in the garage WITH Al Knoch's tape. We play it and refer back to it frequently. It is essential to the job.
It's really a fairly straight forward job to do, IF you go into it with the idea of taking your time. You will not put on your top in 3 or so hours like Al Knoch's installer :)
Trying to describe how to do it here on a BB would be like trying to tell somebody how to tie a "four-in-hand" knot on their necktie over the telephone. Chuck :D
Is that the Rowley's website? Pls correct me if I am wrong, but I thought we could name names, just not post links. A subtle distinction perhaps, but significant when ads are measured in terms of "hits". MJ
I would also be interested in installing a top on my '73. I have the web site, but would also be interested in the video, that was mentioned by Chuck. Are there different videos and if so which one is advised. I wish to thank all for your assistance in advance....
