Can some tell me if this is normal. I push the TV plunger in and it starts feeling pressure from the spring 4 rings out. You can pull it to the end with no spring contact. Should it be replaced. Transmission seemed fine when it was on the road. Any simple upgrades for longevity. It only has 68000 on it.

Hi guy
I'm not real up on these transmissions, but i need some input from someone that knows. Reason for asking, I only ran it home to my house once. Took the pan off the other day. There were only the beginnings of very light clutch material in the bottom of the pan. fluid was red and not burnt.
The spring isn't touching the valve when the valve is all the way out not in.I just want to make sure the spring hasn't collapsed or weakened. this is i believe the spring that applies pressure to the clutches and band. would it hurt to use a new spring. I think there all aftermarket so called upgrades. ????? My short video shows the travel of the spring.

IIRC, that is the correct operation of the TV. You need to go to Superior Transmission Parts website and look up the 700R4 Shift Correction package and read the parts list. #1 is the anti-stick TV spring. That’s what is pushing it from the end of its stroke. There’s a small, short free moving piston in the TV that can stick at full apply position. I’m trying to find the installation instructions so you can understand the way it works.

Go to; transgo.com find the SK 700 Shift Kit, touch on it to go to the product description, pick the Documents to go to the product installation instructions. You can then see in the valve body view and the parts in the TV. It also explains how to adjust the TV cable. It’s all gotta work together or no good will happen.

Reason: More info
Normal and I use the Trans Go no stick TV system that's in their 700SK kits on my builds , for durability on a overhaul I use a Sonnax Beast Sun Shell and install some extra clutches in 3-4th clutch assembly for most stuff under 450 hp and or on half ton pickups where they have some weight on it and make sure it at least has a V8 2nd-4th Band piston installed if it's a classic car conversion since the 700 with V6 is different than the V8
