Default 4 speed trans help

So I have a 4 speed super t-10 I'm putting in my 68 from a 77 Camero z28, it's temporary so I can drive the car this summer while I save $ for a Muncie m20/m21.

Which way do the levers go, up or down?

Not my actual trans, it's just for reference

This is the setup for a "71 muncie. Not sure about the T10. This is form the AIM. Assembly Instruction Manual. It's the book the factory used to assemble and it a must.
You might need to make the index tool (my homemade one shown)

The ST10 is a better street trans. Not much strength difference between them and the Muncie= both will crack like a egg if pushed hard with over 350 ft/lbs.

That picture sure looks like one of my old ones on my bench with posi cases next to it.

It might be, I used it as a reference, that picture is actually from Google. So do the levers go up or down?

The trans was given to me by my father, it's from s-k speed and was rebuilt in the early 2000s and my dad just let it sit.

I do know from what my father told me and the paperwork from s-k speed that it has a 2.43:1 first gear, the midplate is cast iron and the case is a high-nickel T10 main case.

SK Speed on Long Island NY, they built some nice trans. That has better parts in it than the stock Muncies. The WR ST10 was 264, but that is close to the Muncie WR than the CR which was 220

I would keep it. If it sat years without oil on the bearings you may have to rebuild it. My buddy let his Muncie sit in the car 10 years before he drove the car and the bearings were bad.
The iron midplate is an old hot rod part. I have used them, not sure they're even sold anymore.

I know it was stored with fluid. From the notes I have the trans has stuff called gl4 in it and it was last replaced in 2020.

Your BT 4 sp trans is built like my old drag race BT 4 sp ,with a cast iron body and aluminum tailshaft it is almost bullet proof. Mine was just like yours but had a 288 1st gear in my 68 SS camaro had a 12 bolt posi rear with a 557 rear gear and I would launch the car at 6500-7000 rpm and shift at 6500 rpm with slicks of course, never had a problem with the trans but did break the spider gears in the rear end and broke an axle shaft all on the starting line .. Good trans !
