This is easily the most difficult part of the build so far. I have to replace the upper control arm bumpers and I can’t get the new ones in.
It’s a frame off resto so I don’t really have a ton of weight on the car right now. I’ve tried soap and twisting/pushing. I’ve tried twine (it snapped). I even tried using the upper control arm as a clamp and putting my entire weight on it. Nothing!
Any ideas how the hell I can get this thing in? It’s the only thing preventing me from moving forward with the suspension.

mine popped right in once I greased the part that pushes through.
Years ago I was looking at mine (rubber bump stops) when I had the front end apart to put in new bushings. None of them had evidence of ever being touched. So I took all 4 off as excess weight. Later I went to QA-1 dual adjust shocks and like all quality shocks they came with a warning about bottoming out the shock can cause internal damage. So for the fun of it with no rear spring I mounted the rear stock rubber bumper and I ran the trailing arm up and down with a jack. The shock botommed out before it touched the rubber bumper. So the bumper is back in the boxes of everything that I have removed from my vette from day one as excess junk and weight!
A slick tip I picked up here is what I use. A little grease on the hole in the frame, loop a string around the rubber stud on the bumper that goes into the hole, feed the string through the hole and pull on the string on the top side and that bumper will feed right in. Hope this helps.
