Mine doesn't kink, I put it on and it wasn't too bad minus the lower clamp, I was asking though because I have a high flow water pump and was worried without the spring it might suck the hose shut.
Yup, that's the point of the spring. To keep the hose from sucking shut. Which they do. And this causes overheating on the highway.
Put the bloody spring in the hose!
I can't get the old one out.....so will my local parts store have one? O'Reilly's or Napa? Local tractor supply? I live in the sticks and need the car by Saturday so ordering one online won't be here in time.
They can be expensive and hard to find. Cut the old hose up if you need to.
You are a genius, sir! Cut it open, used a broom stick to shove it in there and bingo bango bobs your uncle spring is in and the hose is on and I'm only bleeding slightly.
I purchased my lower radiator hose with a Spring from Auto Zone for $12.00 for my 1978. Fit and worked like a charm, also was strongly suggested by a local radiator shop only install lower radiator hose with spring, has not overheated ever since.
