Im upgrading my car to an LS6. I just replaced all my wiring harnesses but on the headlight harness there is an old school voltage regulator. Do I still need this or can I bypass it?

You can buy a kit to bypass the external regulator and convert it to a 12si type....which you can then upgrade to a 94-amp 12si which could be bolted in.
You can search for Bypassing an external voltage regulator OR do a little cutting, soldering, and heat shrinking.

well I just installed the new harness and I am putting in a new alternator so I dont think I need the voltage regulator anymore. I assume the new alternator has an internal voltage regulator

The only year C3 with an external regulator was 1968. Is your car a 1968?
Did you buy an alternator for a 1968? If so I wouldn't assume anything.

A 1968 alternator requires an external regulator.
What alternator did you get. Provide part number and I can check for you.
IF it is a 12si internally regulated alternator, THEN your 1968 harness needs that bypassing contrapion....it won't work properly without it.
