1972 BB Power Steering Questions
Hi all,
Since I sent my steering box over to Gary for a refresh, I couldn't help but keep staring at the old greasy leaky rest of the system so I took it all down and deciding on where to get my replacements.
1. Control valve was a "Stainless steel brake Co" casting, so I want to get a new one - any thoughts on who's making them right, new vs reman, CSSB, lares vs lonestar, others?
2. The power steering pump looks like a replacement as well. Similar question but in addition, does anyone have a picture of the BB pump to compare the shape.
3. Steeringcylinder - same as question 1.
I will admit, the pump looked like it was going to be a major pita, once I figured it out, not so bad.
2. The power steering pump looks like a replacement as well. Similar question but in addition, does anyone have a picture of the BB pump to compare the shape.
Thanks All!
ignore the extra fitting, I added it as a return for the hydroboost brakes
If you replace the pump make sure you keep the OEM pressure control valve at the back of the housing.
The OEM PS system uses lower max pressure than most all other chevies, to keep the hoses from leaking.
