I know I havent posted in a while...but I thought I'd let you guys know. Just got back from the wreck.
The throttle stuck for some reason while in a parking lot and sent me for the ride of my life, wouldnt stop accelerating, jumped over a road and into the ditch on other side then cut a donut before i finally got the throttle unstuck
The cop was really nice, didnt give a ticket. Hopefully insurance doesnt try to screw me over. It looked like it was totalled.
front driver side has about a 3 foot crack, windshield is cracked, i think the frame is bent b/c my door and ttops are uunaligned it looks. Then i have rear damage from the ditch jump.
If anyone knows a nice repair place near me they would like to suggest for handling vettes...id appreciate it. If the insurance company totals it...idk what ill buy. I was thinking of buying it back just for the engine and i hope they give me the speakerboxes and sub back...
Ill keep u guys updated and maybe get some pics for you all.
no clue, i had just dropped my friend off at his house and was going get me some money and then food....
....wierd thing is...before i dropped him off, he was telling me how tonight (weather) was just like the night last year when he got in a wreck and broke his leg.
Looks like you had a wild ride.....Hope you didn't get hurt during the flying leap over road into the ditch? I'd like to know what caused your throttle to stick......Keep us posted and good luck with the insurance. :seeya Cappy
Will do cappy, and btw, i talked with the insurance company and arranged a deal to get your car instead of the money if the car was totalled...if that was cool with you and all...which i told them would most definatley be...right?
Owwwwwwww.....
:eek :These words you speak......It hurts my ears....
The insurance company decided to allow me to own their company???? :D :seeya Cappy
That sounds terrible. My throttle was sticking pretty bad a while back...turns out the return spring was coming in contact with a part of the bracket it was attached to?? That was making it stick open, I founda new place to attach the spring! :yesnod:
Sorry about your car, glad you are OK though...cars CAN be replaced.
Man that sucks! I am glad to see you want to get the car back. It is the best way to go with all the stuff you put into that vette. I am not sure who can do the work up here, cause I had to take mine back to New Orleans to get it done fairly cheap. I understand there are a few alright places over in Plaquemine.
77 - does it have cruise control ?
My wifes Blazer got stuck whilke driving to Maine last year. As she
approached the toll booths - the 350 was just pulling to GO. Luckily, she
managed to overcome the throttle with the brakes, and shut 'er down.
It turns out that the mechanical linkage to the cruise control actuator
had bound up where it attaches to the actuator (a rod w/loop at end).
Anyone with CC should check out this potential for disaster.
Oh yeah - no more CC on the Blazer since I took that rod off.
Time to turn that car into a true race car. Just gut the interior and put in some racing seats, roll bar, new all metal dash to house some guages.
Then go for a coil over conversion on all 4 corners making everything as light as possible all the way around. Then follow up with about 600hp and paint. Oh and don't forget the racing rims and tires.
Im just trying to turn a negitive into a positve. Im sorry to hear that you had some bad luck, it could happen to any of us.
Even if they total it and don't allow you to buy it back, they should let you get your stereo and speakers out of it. I've had two trucks totaled and was able to get the complete sound systems out of both of em. I hope you also had agreed value on your insurance. Good luck and glad you or no one else was hurt. :blueangel:
My throttle stuck about 3 days after I read the last "My throttle stuck" thread. Someone in that thread said, "Just turn the car off when that happens". I never would have thought of doing that myself, but it sure saved my butt that day. I blame the forum not me not wrecking my car that day.
