Engine Number Scramble
Hopefully, we have a numbers guru who can help decode these numbers. This engine is in a 1979 C3, but I think it might be a transplant. The block casting number is 3970010, which narrows it down to a couple of million possibles. The number stamped into the front pad is: 111147702 K03 11 CGC (the last "C" is a guess as it is not very clear). So, it appears that the block was cast in St.Catharines Ont, on March 11th, but that's as much as I can figure out. Everywhere I google says that number is not correct. If "CGC" is correct, I think that means it's a 1971 motor, but.... Any help would be appreciated.
