Default Another Rear defroster electrical help thread

Hello all, looking for some guidance on an annoying problem I am having with the rear defroster. Original switch would not power on or heat rear window. I replaced it with a new switch from zip Corvette. Once plugged in, led will light and rear window does appear to hear up, however after roughly 5 minutes the CRTY/CLK fuse will blow knocking out power to the defogger and all other things on the circuit. Here is the frustrating part. According to the shop manual, the defogger is not supposed to even be on that circuit, but instead the gauges circuit. In addition, the shop manual shows the switch to be powered by orange/black and pink/black wires. However the plug connector is actually a pink wire with no stripe. Is this possibly a misprint? Pulling the gauges fuse, with new fuse in CRTY/CLK space, there is still power to the switch itself. Is something wired incorrectly and how in the world would I go about teaching that down? Thanks in advance for any insights !

if I read right, the power lead is on the wrong circuit?
I would start there.

You didn't say what year your car is. I'm guessing it's a 82 (Lucy82).
Check to see if the Orange/Black with is connected in the right cavity of the fuse box. The correct cavity for the Orange/Black wire is marked BAT and it's to the right of the 30 amp defrost fuse and right above the directional flasher. Oh yeah the factory service manual is riddled with mistakes especially when it comes to the electrical.

I circled the Orange/Black wire and were it plugs into. The Orange/Black is the main power feed for the rear defroster.
If that's correct I bet some Bozo hot wired the Orange/Black wire to the cigarette lighter.

@Fly skids up! WOW you absolutely nailed it! It is in fact an 82 and the black and orange wire was not in that BAT location, it was plugged into the very bottom center spot also labeled BAT. Once I moved it to the correct location, no more power being supplied to the defroster by the CRTY/CLK fuse and will run for 10 min without blowing the fuse. Thanks so much for the assist!
