Had to pull the rear end down due to thrashing :smash: and was wondering if someone could decifer this code stamped on the ring gear. 3733908 GM 10 37 2 76 1. thanks again.
P.S. the more I work under the car the easier it get"s to tear her down :D :D
If you are trying to figure out the ratio just could the number of teeth on the ring gear and the number of teeth on the pinion then divide the lower number into the bigger number and it will tell you the ratio.
According to my book a ring gear with 37333908 is from a rear with 4.11 gears. The pinion should be stamped 3885945. The pinion should have 9 teeth and the ring gear should have 37 teeth. Kind of rare as the 4 series carrier is not very plentiful. The other numbers are date codes
I had to go out there and check one more time, and sure enough the pinion is 9 splined, if I can say that! Bubba musta been there back when
