Start in Neutral vs Park

Recent 73' Red Hard Top/Convertible purchase for me..... Sometimes No Key Start in Park position..... change to Neutral position and Start is OK.
Any ideas where to start the look for correction?

Is it a 4 speed or an automatic? Auto, remove console and adjust the switch and or cable to the trans.

Re-adjust the ignition switch on top of the steering column.

Do you have instructions that are sharable as to when the Park/Neutral Start switch is properly adjusted? Obviously, when it starts each time in Park

Just looking for the "setup" details for the adjustment. Much obliged!

Get a shop manual. All the instructions you need, and more, are there.

As my console is already together, I cannot furnish a picture. But, after you take the console cover off, if you look down toward the base of the shift lever you will see the neutral safety switch (google it to see what it looks like). when you shift, watch down where it is for something that makes contact with the switch, you can figure it out from there probably.
