Alternator

PLUS the upgraded charge wire to the starter battery
Basically - leave the factory wires alone- but protect the new larger wires with a fuse-
My 68 had a 10 gauge lead from the horn relay to the starter B+ post. Not a good idea but I left it like that for years.....
I finally swapped in a 6-gauge lead from the horn relay to the starter post with a soldered in 10-gauge Fusible Link.
I just relocated the ammeter leads to monitor that path - I can look that up if you're going to keep the ammeter.
Works fine--- it was so easy i shoulda done the lead swap way back when I swapped in the CS-144.....but there it is.
I'll go find the adapter you need (or you can solder in your own resistor if you want to do that) ..... pretty sure there will be a difference between the 68 and the 69 so what year are you working on.
On my 68 I bypassed the external regulator and had gone to a 12-SI prior to going to the CS-144 so I just bought an adapter to go 12si to the CS-144.
I *think* the 69 is internally regulated so you can buy an adapter for the 12si to cs-144 directly.
Gimme a sec.....
Here is an old post. Links probably don't work but I typed in the instructions you need anyway to determine the adapter required:

If you are not going to add your own resistor then check the interwebs for adapters. I found a lot cheaper options online than at the local stores..... like dramatically cheaper as you can imagine.
