Well, I thought I had everything figured out for this swap, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case. I should have a bit more humility.
LS1/T56 from ‘04 Pontiac GTO swap into an ‘81. I just dropped the engine and trans onto the frame and realized fittings interfere with the passenger side upper control arm.
What are my options here? Do I need a new water pump?
Been awhile but I believe that's the way I did it on my 71 C3 with an LS1 swap but I used hardware store NPT fittings and "stock" rubber coolant hoses.
So.... to install my 200-4R in my 1968 narrow Manual Tranny Tunnel I used the Low Profile 90 Degree Banjo Fittings for 4L80Es.....
I saw this it crossed my mind to ask if someone makes banjo fittings that would fit into these holes if they were threaded?
I am just curious but was wondering if that would be an even "lower" profile and be farther away from the control arm?
OK so I bought some fittings and just want to make sure I'm correct here in what I'm thinking. I bought two of these in a 3/4" barb x 1/2" NPFT and a 5/8" barb x 3/8" NPTF. I then bought two of these in a 1/2" NPT and a 3/8" NPT. I'll be taking the current fittings out, drilling threads, and then using the plugs (and locktite) to plug the existing holes. Then I'll tap some new holes up above it an use the new 45º fittings. Additionally, I bought this water neck and this thermostat to replace the existing ones.
Anyone see any problems here? Am I making this too complicated? Is there an easier way to do this?
Check out markquitterracing.com he has a good article on the gto ls cooling system and engine temps. On the section on the thermostat the gto has a 187 deg thermostat.

Damn I knew the thermostat was going to be a problem. I saw a video where a guy bought the 180 deg thermo and it was far larger than the thermostat he pulled out of his GTO engine, so I figured it had to be the 160 deg then. I’ll have to look into it more.
