While it sounds like a good idea in theory, the reliability issues and public outcry removed the mandate for the 1975 model year, although some components of the system still remained.
Most cars, especially corvettes have it bypassed which makes the car think you’re buckled up 100% of the time.

Bring back the memories too.
Enjoy the ownership of it. When you park your Corvette and always look back at it walking away you know what I mean? You must be able to look at it (not a ugly car) Otherwise you could drive Pinto or Vega (sleeper car) with a hop up engine and take on anything on the street/track.
Who cares??Why beat up the old Corvette? Preserve it.
With the Corvette you are driving a time capsule with a piece of history so just enjoy the ride. You won't see many cars around like that which is why you will get lots of stares, attention with a lot of people coming up to talk to you about it. You will spend $$$ maintaining it as technology was different back then (simple).
The mechanics today might not know about carburetors, points and distributors or want to service your Corvette. The Corvette is older than the mechanic.

but your right of course. Back to the OP's question.
Well we finally found out what year and engine your starting with. Actually not as bad as some years.
Just how factory stock is it really? It's 50 years old. Highly likely someone has tinkered on it some over the years.
You really need to find out what if anything has been tinkered with or changed.
No point in recurveing a distributor for instance if someone has already done this. Headers? 2 1/2 " exhaust system?
So, once you truly know your starting point then the next question we need answered is, What is your budget? No point making engine recommendations if your budget is only a thousand dollars.
So, a really, really good idea of where your engine and drive train is currently at. And a really good idea of budget.
Then people can recommend the best bang for the buck.

I never got to my suggestion of a 100 shot of nitrous or turbo charging it....or both.....hmmmm
LOL......
