Default Turnkey parts list

Hi all,

I have a 1976 L82 that I'd like to build into a long distance road trip car. I'll be using the SST TKX transmission with 0.68 5th gear. I want to be confident at all altitudes and temperatures so I want EFI, and I like the idea of multi port. Since Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 is what GM uses on the ZZ6, this seems like a good system. I'd like to pair that with a Blueprint 350 street cruiser engine. The reason for going Blueprint + Edelbrock rather than GM Performance is the warranty. GM only warranties the motor if it was installed by a shop, and I want to do this with my son. Blueprint doesn't care who installs it, and also the warranty starts on date of install.

I'm very new to this, so I don't know what else I would need to buy in order to make a "turnkey" motor ready to drop in the car. I intend on reusing my stock accessory drive brackets and replacing the alternator with a 140amp unit, the AC Compressor with the Vintage Air unit (since I'll be running their system), and a new power steering pump as well. Finally, I'll be using a

Could someone tell me what else I will need to buy aside from the below list of engine, Pro Flo 4, and accessories in order to get the motor ready? Looks like maybe water pump, spark plugs and wires? What else?
  • Blueprint Engine
  • Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 EFI
  • Alternator
  • PS pump
  • AC Compressor
  • Water pump - would love guidance in how to choose this, I want to run Dewitt's radiator and can't decide electric vs clutch fan
  • Spark plugs and wires
  • ???

Thanks in advance.

You will need to provide your EFI system with higher pressure fuel than what the mechanical fuel pump on the engine provides the carburetor. In the case of your Pro Flo 4 that’s number is either 43 or 58 PSI.

There is a number of people that have made their own setups to make this work, but the Holley part #510-12-312 will be a drop in unit for your ‘76.

It looks like your Blueprint engine has an open hole for the mechanical fuel pump. You’ll need a block off plate for it. Any major brand car parts store should have one.

Thanks! Yes I’m going to just replace the gas tank with an EFI unit and run flex lines all the way up so the entire fuel system will be new.

Great to know about the block off plate, that’s exactly the type of info I’m looking for. Anything else on the engine side?

You can reuse your original water pump, but if you need a new one I would get the “corvette length” one, not long or short. I think if you’re going through the trouble of EFI and having the engine out of the car (and because it’s not my money) you’re better off going with electric fans. Dewitt’s is having a sale right now, you can get a radiator that already has fans installed.

I’m thinking O2 sensors and weld in exhaust bungs to run them in, so the efi can get it’s info.

The Pro Flo 4 kit comes with one O2 sensor, but no bung to attach it with.

Definitely better to go with a weld in style rather than the clamp one ones though. With only a single O2 sensor you want to be very careful not to have any exhaust leaks. That’s another thing, a good set of manifold/header gaskets.

Does your SST TKX kit come with a flywheel?

The whole idea of buying a NEW fuel tank to allow you to run a EFI system is a bad and very expensive joke. The Holley OE-Style Fuel pump Modules are a great product and make the job easy. My fuel tank was in great shape so I re-used it with the Holley In-tank module. The module for your C3 goes in from the top it appears and is Holley Part Numbers: 12-312 | 12-382 and it costs $450 complete with the fuel pump and pressure regulator as well as a piece of the new Hydra-Mat.

Welding the Bungs on the exhaust system makes sense to me. It can be a major PIA to do it under the car. I like having a bung on each side to verify that all is well with my exhaust.

The Pro Flow system by Edelbrock is a nice piece of equipment but after doing some extensive comparing I noticed that the Holley EFI Software has more adjust-ability to it over the more "basic" Pro Flow system and I need to be able to dial in exactly what I am looking for. My engine is a bit more particular and I need the ability to tune each system to get maximum performance.

I have a Stealth Sniper EFI System and it looks and mounts just like a carburetor. It works well and is a nice system. I have been toying with the idea of a shorter intake system and might go with a EFI Intake manifold with a shorter dry throttle body and use a Holley Terminator Controller to make everything work together happily.

I bought my entire Holley EFI system for way less than $2k and had it installed in no time. EFISYSTEMPRO.com is where I buy my EFI parts as they give you 24 months of Post-sale support in getting your engine running properly. I bought my system from them because of their support, as it is some of the best available. I also got 10% off the Holley prices and they have the parts in stock ready to ship. Check them out!
