Default Quadrajet missing parts for 1981

The screw that goes in the hole to the right is missing. I need to know what it is, if there is an assembly under it, and if anyone knows where I can order it. I have a manual but it doesn’t describe it or what it does. Thanks in advance

An aluminum plug goes there should be in a rebuild kit, there is an adjustment screw down in there for metering height stop but you can't just start turning that thing or you'll mess things up even more , it needs to be set up with the top off

These E4M Quadrajets didn’t have Phillips head screws in the choke and secondary flaps from the factory as far as I’m aware.

Has your carb been rebuilt by a commercial rebuilder?

that’s a brand new one inside and out from a company in Florida.

welcome to the jungle.
the airhorn looks a little gnarly but as said, plugs, many, were installed from factory.
tuning the CCC is different from a non CCC carb.
I strongly suggest you find a factory service manual.
an eng dwell meter with rpm feature is needed along with digital volt meter for dc volt readings.

good luck

There is no such thing as a brand new Q-Jet. That "company in Florida" has a bit of a reputation, and that carb looks pretty hacked... You have bigger problems with that commercially rebuilt carb than a missing screw. If you bought it from them as "brand new inside and out," why don't you just send it back and tell them to fix it..? If I delivered a hacked POS carb like that to a customer under the pretense of it being "brand new," I'd end up getting punched in the face. I wish you good luck.

i understand it’s not brand new, I understand it’s rebuilt. I’ve had the carb almost a year and it’s better than the original carb for sure. Just needed some friendly advice and English answers to just fix it. My car is original and I plan on keeping it that way.

If you’re wanting to keep your 1981 original and numbers matching I would consider buying a new carburetor and either learning to rebuild them yourself or find a more reputable shop that won’t hack up and create multiple setup issues like your current carb. I can’t recommend anywhere in particular, because there’s very few people that will mess with these CCC systems, but I’m sure they’re out there.

The correct carb number for a 1981 automatic 49 state emissions Quadrajet is 17081228.

1981 used an electronically controlled carburetor. I do not see any mixture control solenoid in that picture.
