Hello and thank you everybody in advance for responding to this. I am working on a 72 and restoring the frame/components. The question that I have is what is the correct finish? You’ll see I have three different components the one on the far right is NOS. The one in the middle is something that I repainted and then there’s the one on the left.
Any guidance and feedback is appreciated

I’m not seeing any pics. We do have a few real NCRS pro’s in here. Once you post those pics I’m sure you’ll get some good responses from one of them.
EDIT: Once I posted the above, your pics showed up, so please ignore my comment.
In my opinion though, that middle piece closely matches the nos part. As far as other parts requiring other finishes, I’m sure some of the NCRS guys will step in.
One has to remember that all the attached components on a Corvette. Were produced at a different plant then the Corvette assembly plant. They could have been painted at the producer of the part or were painted at the main production plant at St. Louis. With that there were variations to the finishes in each batch that were painted. Due to condition of weather or a new barrel of paint. If you look at well preserved original Corvette the black painted finished parts varied across the car. The center and the right item would be close but the item on the left not so much. Has a bit to much shininess but could pass for A-arms finish.
Eastwood has some very nice under hood paints as well as frame paints. For a rattle can they do a pretty nice job and with just the right amount of Gloss. I know of restoration shops who use the Eastwood supplies everyday so they must be close to original coatings.
When my 427 was installed in my C3 we spent a couple days cleaning up and painting the engine compartment before putting the engine back in there. For the first few years it looked like a show car and now the engine compartment could use another cleaning again. I guess that you need to remove the engine to get to "clean and detail" the engine compartment completely.
