My '79 C3 had develeoped a windon issue where the glass on the passenger side was very clunky going down and then it just dropped down into the door and wouldnt go back up l, it sounded jammed and there was only a few millimetres of movement up or down.
Took the door card off and the bulky part of the mechanism just above the motor was very lose and held on by only 2 bolts, i could see where it had been loose the holes were elongated.
I stilll couldnt get the window to go up so i undid the two bolts and with it all loose was able to get the window do go up. I bolted it all back up whoch was very tricky and felt a little forced, i use 4 bolts in what felt like the obvious locations. It all seemed to work fone but when i shut the door it looked like this ..... i would really apricate any help if anyone know a little more about what i need to do. The window does go up and down fone now, just looks all.out of alignment

After buying my C3 I had issues with the drivers window being loose. I have power windows which makes the room even less for big hands. I found that one of the biggest problems was the old white grease they used at the factory. There was grease all over the place and it was almost rock hard. Using a Hot Air gun I warmed it up which made it much more pliable and easier to remove. After cleaning the tracks I saw that I had a couple of the rollers that were damaged so I ordered new ones and put them in the car. Do you have the Assembly Illustration Manual (AIM) for your particular year? I found the best illustrations were in that manual as it showed how it was put together.
90% of the trouble in mine was the grease had become cooler with the weather became so hard and useless as a lubricant. Instead it was keeping the system from working properly. I also used Mineral spirits on the frame and metal parts to assist in cleaning them up.
My hardware in the window area was loose on my C3 as well. It looked like when using the window, the motor was moving around a bit. I think the mounting hardware loosens over time using the window.
Good luck and let us know what you find in that window area!
Easiest way for me was using a couple of suction cup handles for glass work. Loosen up all the adjustment points, jiggle the glass into position, re-tighten.

Believe it or not. The Factory Service Manual has EXCELLENT instructions on glass installation and adjustment.
Perhaps have a read over your genuine GM service manual! It's a bloody gold mine!
Finally fixed the issue with the passenger side manual window crank being nearly frozen even after my second attempt to clean and lubricate all the tracks and rollers with spray lithium grease. Window was so hard to raise/ lower that the handle stripped out. Anyway, here are a few pics of the cause of the problem. The window crank unit grease was as hard as a body mount! Window works perfectly now. Will have to check the driver's side although it still works fine.
