Anyone know how to remove the shifter on a 73 with a 4 speed. It wont go into reverse and I can see where it is being prevented from moving but need to take it out to get to it.
Thats great, Thanks. Still trying to figure out how to do the post. So can I ask you how did you see the post I did, I'm not sure other than I saw a post button and used it to post. Anyway, thanks again,
Cheers
I saw your post when I was looking at the " Auto Extras & Memorabilia" board postings and read it there.
I see you have posted in the Tech board now so you got it figured out.
Can you get under the car safely? It is possible that one of your linkage arms has come loose. Can you get into reverse if you move the arm manually with a wrench?
The reverse lockout rod ( T Handle) can break and when that happens the rod is stuck in place, so eventhough you are pulling up on the T handle it is not moving to get the shifter into the reverse slider.
Hey, I got lucky, not sure how I did it but it worked. Also, I found the problem. It was a broken spacer in the shifter assembly. Ordered a new one so hopefully it will fix the problem. Thanks for all the help
