G-tech Pro Comments?
However, it has some merit. Forget the HP/TQ readings. It makes a lot of assumptions there, and the 1/4 mile trap speed is high. But I've found the 0-60 times and 1/4 mile ET to be pretty consistent.
Keeping it level, and finding a level surface to run on is the biggest problem.
New engine in yet? The GTech only works if the engine is in the car!

The one replacing the G-T. P. is called the G-Tech Pro Comp. Point your browser over to http://www.gtechpro.com and look at it. They're definitely taking steps in the right direction. It even includes a serial interface to connect to a PC. Sounds like some fun times with a laptop in the passenger seat :D
G-Tech's argument for the high 1/4 speed is that it takes the ACTUAL speed at the 1/4 mile mark rather than the last 60' average the track records.
Since it's more than a hour away to the closest track, I was thinking on picking one up too, so thanks to all who have commented

One thing neither do is account for "roll out" that you will get at the track if you stage shallow. So, depending upon the accuracy of the unit, your ET may actually be a tick or two slower than what you'd get at the track.

Truthfully, I have used it only a couple of times.
Its kinda busy around my neighborhood, so I can't just stop in the middle of a road, zero-out the g-tech, and then run her to 60 or a 1/4 mile. Unless its 3 am, of course.
But who's neighbors will let them tune their carb at 3 am ??
I had problems with the suction cup that came with. You guys SHOULDN'T have that problem with the new unit...
I made a 1.5" x 2" square of plastic, epoxied the g-tech mount to the plastic, and then used this fastening tape my ol' man got from scotch (it resembles heavy duty velcro, but with stiff bristles on both instead of one being soft --the same tape that comes with your I-pass).
I put the tape under the winshield washer switch, by the vents, and mounted the g-tech between the gauges and the wiper switch. It keeps it out of plain view, and shades it from the sun completely, unless the tees are off.
Plus it doesn't fall off the windshield right before the end of a test anymore.
I wish I had waited another couple of weeks to buy my g-tech... I would've bought the newer one when it came out. :boxing
It looks good on paper: You know when you change jets, floor it, go thru the gears, and you can't tell if its faster than before, NOW with a G-tech, you can truly measure the differance in performance.
But you really have to either have a deserted road where you can fiddle with the g-tech, or a passenger to fiddle for you, and write down numbers for you. Of course, the New Model probably has a memory functon that allows you to recall the numbers.
Another thing, I heard a rumor that in some states, if you get caught speeding with a measuring device like a g-tech, they will nail you for drag racing instead of just speeding.
