I have been working on my new body mounts most of this week and came across something weird..when I pulled the lh #2 mount it had 2 shims, however, when I was putting the in new ones in and had my hand on the back of the frame and found 2 more in a small lip on the frame.
Question I have is 4 shims to.much or are these extras left over from Bubba?
The 3 and 4 mounts each had 2 shims and #1 only had 1
Are the shims the same on both sides? I haven't pulled the rh side mounts yet
Answer, no both sides are not likely to be the same.
although it is possible, not likely.
4 shims to many? No, not at all. The work of Bubba? Not likely, Bubba rarely gets this deep into a car. And even then, wouldn't likely over shim the body.
If your doors were lined up fairly well and opened and closed well. I wouldn't change a thing.
1 shim here, next mount over 4 , next 2 last 5. Not something to think about. I had a couple with zero shims, and a couple with 4.
Thank you..the body is about 3/8 out of alignment but it wasn't perfect when I start...the shims show where the mounts is have been sitting and they have clean spots around the holes
Not clear on what you mean by the body is 3/8th's out of alignment.
you are aware of the alignment holes on both sides of the birdcage?
If you feel the body needs different shims to get the door gaps corrected. By all means shim accordingly .
