You want a shallow pan ideally as well... my stock 74 pan is only about 7 inches deep so the pan isnt hanging lower than the rest of the car. I swapped the pan from my l48 to my new block when I build it. there are a lot of the shallow racing pans that will clear the steering junk.. I just removed the stock power steering and upgraded to a borgeson which was well worth it and an option for you as well as it cleans up all that hardware that hits the oil pan.
