@Z51JEFF There’s a youtuber by the name of “The Driveway” who has very detailed vids on his 1971 build. A few of them address the removal, repair and install of the headlight system(s). Search him out. Once you find him, click on the little search icon (magnifying glass) and type in “headlight”.
Here’s one where he is installing them, which you can see all of what you need to know, just done in reverse. His other vids should get you the knowledge you seek.
You can also watch a series on headlights by the youtuber “C3 Corvette” addressing headlights. Once you find him, click on “playlists”. Then click on the “Pop-up headlights” (pic shown below) to see his 9 vids on headlights. Good luck and hope this helps!
