Default Window Adjustment Help

1974 Convertible with manual windows. When I roll the driver’s window all the way up, there is about a 1/4 inch gap at the front towards the engine. I can pull the window up that 1/4 inch by hand and it stays. The alignment all the way around is perfect when I pull it up. When I roll the window down a couple of inches and roll it back up, the gap comes back and I have to pull it back up by hand. What do I need to tighten down/ replace to solve this? I thought I would ask before I change anything since the alignment is so good all around after I finish pulling it up by hand. Thanks!

It could be one of the plastic rollers on the scissor mechanism.

If you had a AIM Manual, there are specific step by step instructions on how to adjust the windows. Have you removed the door card and Thoroughly cleaned all the original hard grease from all window parts? It would also be a good time to clean and lubricate the door locking mechanism. I like to use synthetic lubricants as they will not harden. There are plenty of how to instructions that can be found using Google.
