Capt,

Too late now, I 'm late for the party.

But next time you are setting new floats, old floats whatever, on your workbench, here is a little tip.

For the initial setting to get it in the ballpark before assembly, turn the fuel bowl up-side-down. Insert a number 2 pencil under the float and adjust the screw until the float just lays on the pencil. That distance or thickness is almost perfect once the bowl is turned right-side-up and installed on the metering plate.

If your needle valve is holding, and your float is in good shape, and your fuel pressure is within spec; and your bowl level is still going too high, then check/ replace the rubber O ring that seals the needle seat assembly.

Thanks HeadsU.P.
Not too late, Good info. With the Duracon (plastic) floats the setting needs to be a little higher. Holley recommends 3/8" distance when bowl is inverted as a starting distance for float setup on the secondary side. Otherwise you will be running too lean. I guess either measurement will work for starting out. It will need to get fine tuned anyways via the sight hole for proper adjustment. Thanks for your help. Greatly appreciated...

Thank you Wolfk,
You hit the nail on the head! My needle valve was holding, my float is in good shape, and my fuel pressure is within spec. I adjusted the float level as far down as possible and my bowl was still flooding. I pulled out the needle and seat assembly and the O ring was no good. I replaced it with new and put everything back together and the car runs perfect! Thanks so much for your great advice!
