I just got a 1969 L71 car. It has 3.08:1 rear-end gears. I am going to change to 3.70:1 (with rebuild on the rest). I am looking for a SETUP BEARING (so that I can avoid pressing an actual bearing on and off). I've call a few places, but no one thus far has been able to help me.
Do any of you know is the C2/C3 (all but the last few years) shares a pinion bearing with? And where I might be able to acquire one?
I thought may it might share pinion bearings with one of the more common 10 bolts. I have the fancy tool to pull the bearings. I always start with 2 fresh Timkens as close as I can get them to each other. Then once the 1st is shimed, install the fresh one and check. The cheater bearing is marginally helpful.
It looks like it shares pinion bearings with a garden variety 8.5in 10 bolt??
