Default Stock Fan Blade Question

My stock '74 fan has 7 blades and is 17.5" diameter. One of the blades is about 1/2" closer to the rear of the shroud than all of the others. Is this normal design or do I have one blade bent? Does not look to be. Thinking of having chrome plated, but do not want to do a bad fan. Can someone check theirs and advise. Thanks in advance.

I have one blade on mine that is a little longer too. It may not be 1/2" longer but it is longer.

I replaced the staggered 5 blade on my 82 with that fan blade. If I remember correctly, all were same length and in same plane.

Stock fan blades for the most part aren't symetrical. The reason is to move the vortex of air around the radiator. Think of a bathtub. When you pull the plug the water creates a vortex (funnel) as it goes down. A symetrical fan will do the same and only pull air through the center of the radiator. By offsetting the blades the vortex moves around the radiator pulling in air from all areas. At least that's the way it was explaned to me.

Interesting, always wondered about the staggered design. Sounds logical, but, then, why is virtually every other fan symmetrical? Beyond me.

It just seems odd only one blade of seven would be out of line with all the others. If someone else can check out their fan, otherwise I will see if if there are any at the Corvette Expo in Houston this weekend to take a look at.
