GEARSTAR TH400 - Compatability
Does anyone have experience with GearStar? Do they fit in correctly with all shift linkage brackets fitting appropriately? Also the kick down solenoid connection, cooler lines...
My TH400 has a slip on yoke and 4" tail section and 13" converter.
I found out today the thrust surface of my crankshaft is significantly ground down... So it is possible the converter I had was somehow expanding or improperly mounted and forcing the crank forward. I certainly was not using a trans break, but I did have a LOT of trans fluid blow out of the vent pipe at high speeds. Maybe something was ballooning... Perhaps a bench tested GearStar is a good option and the price seems reasonable to me. Rebuild service costs are getting out of hand these days. I was just quoted $850 for new U-joints in my half shafts. Brand new pair of Van Steel half shafts with flanges are $650.
Thank you!
