No. Just cut off the metal pipes to remove it. You probably cant get the fittings apart while they are attached down there and you will need to replace that accumulator dryer anyway.
You can buy a more common generic replacement dryer or get an exact fit for your application. Exact fit is better as it has less joints to make up (or fail). They are not that expensive.
Welcome top the club. Since this appears to be your first post, please don't be insulted but you do know that the way to access the accumulator is by removing the splash pan underneath the car right below it. Most likely you know that but I didn't want to assume that. We like new people but tell us more about your car and include some pics.
I can't comment on all years as it has been pointed out to me that the latter years can be harder to access certain things up in that passengers side inner fender area.
However, I find removing the triangular shaped splash shield directly under the drier. And reaching up makes it fairly easy to access on my 77 model. And the mounting bolt through the inside of the fender behind the front wheel.
Really no need to cut anything.
