On the lower frame of the windshield, there are two metal tabs about 8" from each outer edge of the frame. They are held in with one screw each. Mine are very corroded, and I want to replace them. I cannot find any online, probably because I don't know what the name of the part is. I can fab them myself, but I don't know what the shape is supposed to be (since they are so corroded). Does anyone know there purpose? I believe the windshield rests on them, kind of like a spacer to prop the glass in the proper position.
I'm restoring my 1971 Roadster and ran into the same problem. I found two clips that I don't think were specific to our cars but were the same size and shape but don't remember where. I'll check tonight when I get home and let you know.
Those plates are screwed to the firewall and serve to limit the extent of how low the winshield can sit. I suspect those were there, the windshield was placed where they wanted it, and these kept it in place until everything set.
Agreed. The question is, where can I get the part? Mine are so corroded, they are not the same size as they once were, so they will not hold the windshield in the proper position.
These are the parts I found, I believe, on eBay and though they don't match perfectly and aren't for a 'Vette, I'm going to modify the size if necessary and use them on mine. Hope this helps.
